Ryse: Son of Rome is without a doubt the best looking next-gen exclusive launch title for either Xbox One or PlayStation 4. There's simply no beating Crytek's modeling and animation work, let alone everything else their game engine built from what must have been a deal with the devil. This has never been more apparent than in the latest Ryse trailer, "Fight for Rome" which focuses on the game's story.
If after watching the trailer you don't see the obvious influence of Gladiator then maybe it's time to go watch Gladiator again. Yet Gladiator was never able to take viewers to as many mind-blowing locations and terrifyingly huge battles as Ryse: Son of Rome will. All that's really missing is some mythological beasts so we can elevate Ryse up to Iliad and The Odyssey levels of awesome.
Expect Ryse: Son of Rome to launch with the Xbox One console starting November 22. It's one of the few true premium console exclusives for the Xbox One platform, but it may very well be the best of the bunch. That is, if it ends up being exciting to play on top of looking outrageously beautiful. I mean, damn, that boat scene with the chains. The stuff of dreams.
