Infinity Ward isn't one to just let Treyarch steal all the attention with their Zombie Mode. Welcome to Extinction Mode. Call of Duty: Ghosts has its own 4-player cooperative game mode featuring freaking aliens. As with Zombies, Extinction will feature base defense mechanics, scavenging and class leveling. Plus, doesn't it just feel right blowing away aliens with a mini-gun? I think so.
Not much else has been revealed about Call of Duty: Ghosts' Extinction mode. All we received was the trailer and a few small details. The rest we'll just have to guess from the trailer's gameplay. We see that the world has ended, to the degree that cities are destroyed, but soldiers are still patrolling. We see alien hives hatching what look to be Zerglings. We see aliens of different sizes. Actually, this reminds me as much of Mass Effect 3's multiplayer as it does Zombie mode. Creepy.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PC on November 5, followed by launch-day releases on PlayStation 4 (Nov. 15) and Xbox One (Nov. 22). It's pretty surprising that Activision and Infinity Ward kept Extinction a secret for this long, all things considered.
