Yeah, really looking forward to it. The new biomes are amazing, but they're also slightly annoying at the same time due to the spawning actually being natural-like. :b

Also a bit of a bummer considering people will probably have to make new worlds like we had to do in 1.6 lol. The one thing that I'm looking forward to the most are the new commands! With /summon, /setblock, and /testforblock commands, literally ANYTHING is possible in Minecraft now. I wasn't really informed too much of the update as much as I was for 1.6, but I know most of it, I think. xD

Really excited for 1.7, and I'm also curious as to what the next updates will bring!

My friend has been craving for colored/stained glass for the longest time and now he'll be pleased with it.

Yeah, it was nice seeing another addition of 2.0 (April Fools Day) being added after the Block of Coal was added in 1.6. They've been changing the stained glass/pains in a few of the snapshots, but now they look really nice. :3

Stained glass? I foresee some really nice designs involving them and light sources in the future.

Also, my opinion is that instead of less ocean, they should have just added an upgrade to the boats. SAIL-FREAKING-BOAT. Especially with a chest/doublechest. You could be a pirate! I'm not sure how fast boats go these days, since apparently their speed was upgraded but it would be nice to have the option at least, of being able to pack up things into the boat and travel on. Naturally, the sailboat version would need to be more durable, as it's transporting cargo. So, something like having a regular boat, some iron, and a previously created sail combined on the workbench to produce the sailboat?

Shadow, that's a damn good idea.

Sailboats or something, yeah. In real life you can encounter hundreds of kilometres of ocean, and in Minecraft, 2000 metres is too much? Yeah. I'd have gone with bigger oceans and bigger continents, and bigger biomes in general. And disabling the player from spawning in a biome that's going to be really unfriendly, like in the middle of a desert that's a hundred KM across.

What I'd like to see, really, is a significant speed upgrade for redstone rails. It's about the same as sprinting at the moment (unless I'm much mistaken), and when I'm using it for long-distance travel, I want it to be fast enough to warrant using it. Currently the only real advantage is that I can get in, press the button to launch it, and then go and get a coffee while I wait.

There's plenty of time yet though. Maybe 1.8 or 1.9 will be The Transport Update or something.

I think to go faster, you need to "sprint" with the forward double tap.

Mark - What I wanted out of rails is for them to be more cost-effective. Mining enough material to power your way a good distance in survival is prohibitive. Regular unpowered rails are fine at 16 rails for 6 iron ingots, since iron is fairly plentiful, but gold is pretty rare and it only nets you 6 I think, rails which is just horribly impractical.

Thanks

Too bad it'll never happen it seems. Since they're shrinking oceans and have been working on it for a while I doubt they'd reverse the decision and add sailboats instead.

I agree. They should either update boats or just update the oceans to have more mobs and stuff.

Agreed on the oceans. I was hoping they would add coral reefs and trenches and such.

Yep, at least something to make them interesting. Whirlpools, waves, or anything to make them more lifelike. (Although, those would probably cause quite a bit of lag). New ocean mobs would probably be the best thing to do. Either that or add a new type of Ocean Dungeon such as a pirate ship with treasure.

Looking forward to 1.7.1, lot sof interesting additions being brought into the game. It'll be interesting to see more islands and land rather than endless sea. Can't wait.

Just tested Minecraft 1.7 yesterday or the day before. I don't remember. But the update looks incredible. And actually, the update is 1.7.2 "The Update That Changed The World". Not 1.7.1, haha.

They've since updated the update. Initially they were going to release 1.7.1, but they've since done another revision to 1.7.2. Thanks for the update, though!
