Ubisoft's released a bunch of assets for Fighter Within today, including an all new gameplay trailer, a bunch of screenshots and individual character renders. What's missing, however, is a look at what individual players look like when playing the Kinect-controlled Fighter Within live. Seriously, I think companies like Ubisoft severely underestimates the selling power of people looking like idiots playing Kinect games.
Sure, most people that play Kinect games, Fighter Within likely included, don't look particularly attractive, coordinated, or anything beyond ridiculously doofy really. Yet this far along in the Kinect's lifecycle we have to all come to the conclusion that that's just part of playing games on the Kinect. Double Fine realized this and look at how awesome Happy Action Theater is. So pay up, Ubisoft, give us camera shots of real people playing Fighter Within on Kinect.
In the mean time we get to see Fighter Within's on-screen gameplay, which looks to be a mixture of Tekken and Deadliest Warrior. Surprisingly there's no sort of UI anywhere on-screen, no health bars at all. I'm curious to see whether the game is health-barless or they were just removed for the sake of the trailer. Also, that old dude getting punched in the face at the start of the trailer? Awesome.
Fighter Within is an Xbox One launch title, exclusive to the platform and controlled by Kinect. Gosh, I sure hope I get to play it live for everyone.
