Firstly, the very first announcement talked about how it would be an offline, single player experience, thus no servers, probably because of all the flak SimCity got what with its' servers.

This was kind of the point of a lot of debate about The Sims 4. They're not going for ultra realism. They're going for stylized reality, and a game that can be played on most machines and isn't as demanding as TS3 was. I feel this is a step in the right direction.

The comment was more of a joke.

As for the graphics I get that the artstyle is in the same vein as TS2 (which I LOVE) but artstyle=/=quality of graphics. And what we've seen so far the quality of graphics is really, really low. Even the artstyle isn't all that great.

The Sims 2 had a much better artstyle with worse graphics whereas the sims 3 had much better graphics with a terrible artstyle where everyone looked the same. Here everything is more stylish but the colors are to pale and simple and overall graphics just seem like its running on my laptop (which can barely run the sims 3).

True, but I suppose we can't really judge that kind of thing yet considering these are all pre-release images and there's a year until we actually get to see any finality. And like I said, they're going for a game that can run better, thus the graphics won't be as crisp and lifelike as in TS3. You had people with high end gaming machines that still couldn't run TS3 very well. Considering The Sims is a generally casual game, a lot of the players don't have the latest gaming computers or even dedicated graphic cards.

Will it still take my Sim twenty minutes to pee, or will they finally learn how to have a bowel movement in less than half an hour? I know it's a weird thing to be bothered by, but that is literally what has gotten me the most about this series.

"You're done pooping, you need to DO things. Come ON..."

Completely agree. What also bothers me is when they just stand there for an hour, waiting for the animation to load, and if you're accidentally fast forwarding during this time you can press play and find they've supposedly stood there for five hours waiting to be able to pee.

The Sims 3 not running properly was more to the fact of poor optimization and not graphics.

Even when it's running properly (standing there for half an hour trying to think of "what to do") I still found the mechanics infuriating. I can barely believe how long it takes my Sim to sloooooooooowly walk his way across even just the front stairs to my door, and just want to yell "run, Sim, run!"

The Sims 3 was a mess. It had some incredible ideas that warranted a much needed sequel and then it fell flat in almost every conceivable way in trying to grant those.

I'll never forget the launch where sims would move out (aka get deleted) completely by random with no option to turn it off unless you completely get rid of story progression and you might as well be playing TS2 if you have story progression off.

Hell my old computer which did a damn fine job at running most games on high settings could barely run TS3 on low. I'm glad to hear that TS4 will be more optimized. Here's hoping those graphics aren't representative of the final product.

That said EA/Maxis has done absolutely nothing to ease my nerves. This game rightfully so flew under my radar and will most likely stay under the radar until launch where (and I fully expect) something bad will happen.

And where did you see that? I hope you're joking, otherwise people need to learn to read.

Phexamata Huntereb According to EA The Sims 4 is an entirely offline experience. At least, that's how the game was announced... we'll see if that still holds true next fall!
Yeah, that's what I've been saying to people. I'm pretty sure they made a big deal of this so that people wouldn't start thinking about Simcity and how much of a trainwreck that was I just really hope they stay true to the statement.

BTW the name is Phexameta, not Phexamata.
