Two factions stuck on a planet with a mere wall between them. In Killzone Shadow Fall war seems an inevitability between the Vektan and Helghast factions. Some believe the war has already begun and seem to be grasping at control before their enemies realize. At least, that's how it seems in this latest Killzone Shadow Fall story trailer released by Guerilla Games today.
Here's a quick summary from Guerilla Producer Poria Torkan:
"On planet Vekta, where rival Helghast and Vektan factions are living side by side under an uneasy truce, the answer depends entirely on who you ask. To Chancellor Visari, leader of the displaced Helghast people, the Vektans are aggressors that must be kept in check by whatever means necessary. To Vektan Security Agency Director Sinclair, the biggest threat to peace is the very presence of the Helghast people."
Out of all of the PlayStation 4's launch titles, Killzone Shadow Fall's embrace of mature themes will certainly set it apart. While at the same time it's easy to say, "Well, yeah, it's an FPS. Of course it's going to be gritty and action packed," but when one of the first topics a game has to deal with is genocide then it's a bit beyond the norm. At least they distanced themselves from Killzone 3's ending by 30 years. Still, where will Shadow Fall's plot be able to escalate?
Killzone Shadow Fall launches with the PlayStation 4 on November 15. It may be the next-gen title to own this holiday season. Certainly nothing that Guerilla Games has shown so far has disappointed. Let's not start now!
