The Long Dark is less than 40 hours away from being successfully funded, having already reached its $200,000 CAD goal last week. Awesome, right? Well, in another bit of good news, Hinterland Studio announced today that David Hayter has joined the voice cast for this promising survival sim. Yes, that'd be the voice of Solid Snake.
Okay, Hayter isn't the voice of Snake anymore, but knowing he's signed on with The Long Dark only further builds my anticipationg for the game. Previously, Hinterland also confirmed Jennifer Hale's involvement, though we have no idea who the two actors will be voicing as of yet. Regardless, a Kickstarter-funded game featuring both the voices of Snake and Shepard? Excellent.
For those who haven't yet heard about this game, The Long Dark is an upcoming survival sim helmed by Far Cry 3 narrative director Raphael van Lierop, and revolves around pilot William Mackenzie as he tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. One of the game's big draws is the setting, which takes us to the harsh northern wilderness somewhere in Canada. After crashing there, William must figure out what's happened to the rest of the world and do what he can to survive. Morality will be a factor, and the latest video shows us how that works in The Long Dark.
The Long Dark currently sits above $228K on Kickstarter, well over the original goal. If you would prefer donating to the project via PayPal, that's an option on the game's microsite. Once the Kickstarter campaign ends in 30-some hours, the devs will be combining the totals from both Kickstarter and PayPal to determine which stretch goals to implement.
