Though its place in gaming industry history is firmly secured with launch week sales totalling a billion dollars worldwide, Grand Theft Auto V's reign as a weekly chart-topper didn't actually last too long in the UK thanks to (you gueseed it) FIFA 14.
According to Chart-Track, EA's latest soccer/football title managed to dethrone GTA V as the top-selling game in the PAL market last week. Curiously, Chart-Track notes that FIFA 14's first week sales this year were down 24 percent compared to FIFA 13's launch numbers.
GTA V's sales in the UK unfortunately plummeted 83 percent during its second week compared to its record-setting launch figure which, admittedly, was a tough act to follow. To be sure, GTA V's second week numbers would still be the equivalent of the eighteenth biggest debut ever in the UK if they were taken as launch week sales.
In the off chance you needed a reminder that the UK happens to be absolutely nuts about the sport, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 14 remains in Chart-Track's top five. Konami's competing soccer title placed right behind GTA V when it launched the week before last, and since fallen to fourth place.
