Persona 4 Arena was a hit with fans, to many's surprise. How were we to expect a modern JRPG's audience would so easily convert and follow a fighting game? Apparently with ease, potentially due to the fighting game's popular plot-line and respect for the franchise's assorted cast of characters. It's only appropriate for a sequel to be in the works that continues where Persona 4 Arena left off. Introducing Persona 4 The Ultimax: Ultra Suplex Hold.
Technically The Ultimax had been previously announced as an iteration on Arena that would be coming to arcades. Sort of like a DLC expansion pack with additional characters. Today's reveal confirms the breadth of the sequel, however, as a fleshed out story-based sequel wasn't exactly what anyone was expecting. Add in fresh faces Junpei Iori and Yukari Takeba from Persona 3, along with all new character Sho Minazuki.
A new tournament has popped up on Mayonaka TV named the P-1 Climax. Persona 4 The Ultimax: Ultra Suplex Hold is certain to deliver exactly what fans are begging for, short of Persona 5 itself. Or who knows what else is around the corner?
