Amazing! It is really is awesome to see how much the franchise has evolved over the years, not just in the graphics alone but also in gameplay as well. But wow, it really is great to see how detailed it gets as each generation goes along. Definitely can't wait to see how much better X&Y will get.

Wow, it definitely has changed a lot! Can't help but look at the difference between the trees, from Gen 1 to Gen 5. >< That's a big change, haha! But like Squiggle said, there's been a massive change in the gameplay as well. Back then the antagonist was trying to take over the world. Now they're... well, trying to take over the world, with a back story!

Awwww. I remember when my friend came over on christmas day and raved about the new Pokemon game he had just received. I have only played Generation 1 and 3 but am tempted to give the new ones a shot.

I still remember going to my cousins house and seeing him play Pokemon Red, I was like "Oh, what's this?". The rest is history.

Same thing happened with me and my neighbor - I came over and he was playing Red ... tried to explain the concept and I was hooked.

Weird how I still think I like the looks of Gen 3 the best, when I've played them all lol

Only now did it occur to me, will a 3D environment even feel like Pokemon game? Could it feel better? Weeiiiiiirrrrrd thoughts this morning....

Man, right in the feelings! There's such a huge increase in quality between gens II and III. It's neat to see it all laid out like this ^^

This is really cool. As for myself, I started with Pokemon Pearl in gen 4, which is sadly not pictured there. Then I played gen 5. Played gen 3, 1, and 2 through emulators.

Since I didn't start with the early games, I could see more flaws and quirks in gens 1 and 2 than most do, and I never actually got to the end of the games in either gen (unless you count the remake, SoulSilver, and even there I have still yet to beat Red on Mt. Silver).

Gen 3 had too much surfing, but I did enjoy the story.

Gen 5 has been my favorite so far. I like how they have a 2D character immersed in a somewhat 3D area.

Gen 4 has always been a second favorite, since that's where I started Pokemon. It didn't feel like anything that was rehashed because when I started, all of those Pokemon were new to me. And, I would have started in gen 2, but I didn't know where were games till I was 11 (I'm 16 now) and received Pearl with a DS Lite (never had a GB series handheld). I was quite absorbed in the anime, though.

Just thought I'd share random stuff. That image definitely brought up a lot of thoughts.

I miss the heavy white shading, but other than that the series has really defined itself in an awesome way. Very cool article!

I was three when Red and Blue came out. I've played almost every main game since, sans Black 2, which I shall remedy as soon as I can. Pokemon has been such a big part of my life ... I could almost cry with the memories flowing through my little, black heart.

I won't though. Cause, you know, shriveled black heart and all.
