Dare we utter those cursed words: Steam Box? Judgment day cometh, as Valve teased today that three, yes three, announcements are planned for next week related to Steam coming to the television and living room. Starting Monday check out Valve's fancy new teaser page where we'll hopefully get our first look at whatever they've got planned. Is the market about to get flipped on its face?
So many questions! What sort of hardware will the Steam Box feature? How will it be priced? When will it release? Will the entirety of the Steam library be available? Will there be exclusive games for the platform? Will Big Picture be upgraded to something that isn't junk? Are we making too many assumptions about what the Steam Box is and isn't before it's even announced? Who knows, Valve could be announcing Half-Life 3 for consoles or something.
Whatever Valve has planned to announced next week (three announcements!) it's bound to be very big news. Whether it's the Steam Box or a Big Picture upgrade, Valve's encroachment into the living room is big news. If suddenly gamers have the option of partaking in Steam's deep discounts for games on console, how will Sony and Microsoft react? It's gon' be good.
