Tomorrow is another big day for Guild Wars 2, with some major changes like the new Tequatl world boss, a Looking for Group tool, a new wings backpiece, and WvW improvements. Today, ArenaNet was kind enough to release a little something-something talking all about some of those WvW changes, including the new WvW Borderlands Bloodlust buff. What's that, you wonder? How about a 50-point increase to all you rstats, healing power, and condition damage? Sounds awesome.
ArenaNet is basically bringing back server-wide buffs from WvW, which they hope will strengthen the sense of community in Guild Wars 2, not to mention give WvW players something else to fight for. There's also the hope that this will influence players to better organize into smaller groups.
See, the way Borderlands Bloodlust works is you capture and hold the Ruins of Power in order to acquire it for your world. Ruins are new locations with some pretty nice designs, all unique to themselves.
Capturing and holding these Ruins of Power is the key to acquiring the potent Borderlands Bloodlust buff for your world. Ruins are unique locations with great new art, and each one has its own flavor. You’ll find cannon sites at each ruin that can be built by the team that controls the ruins and used to defend against enemy invaders. The sites have been set up to force strategic gameplay and to split forces. You might be able to capture one or even two with a large group, but can you capture and hold three before someone takes one of them back?
Additionally, we’ve added a pair of sentry points that can be captured by intrepid souls. The quaggan and krait forces have been removed from the lake in favor of more intense player-on-player battles. The terrain is brand-new and is going to introduce lots of fun ways to ambush the unwary or escape from a pitched battle.
With tomorrow's update, you'll find five total ruins, and any world that can somehow cap and hold three of the five for two minutes will earn their entire server the Borderlands Bloodlust. Each enemy you kill with a finisher will also earn your world one point per stack of Bloodlust, up to a max of three points; every little bit helps the cause.
Get ready, and start your engines, because tomorrow is update day for Guild Wars 2.
