Vin, you were never a good actor. People thought you were attractive enough because you had that shaved, musclebound look going for you but they went to see your movies because they had fast cars or aliens in them - the lead role could have just as easily been played by Statham or Stallone (or hell, any of the Expendables). Your career will die out with Fast and the Furious 23 and you'll ultimately become more famous for being a caricature of yourself, like Steven Seagal.

...Video games are no different. You might have found yourself a niche market but it's still the video games the fans love, not you. Try not to get too above your station, yeah? Then you won't have to worry about becoming the gaming industry's latest inside joke.

Hmm i'd say Lian Neelson or the guy who played aragorn make a good replacement, diesel is not really smart, he loves games, but his only selling point is his crappy acting, his low tone voice along muscles are what sells.

I was never able to play either game because they were designed to be played only and only on XP.

So i agree with Praetorian here, diesel is going down eventually.

Where did that come from? I've never got the impression he's overly narcissistic or anything. He is just passionate about things and does his best to make things happen.

He's laughing his way to the bank though.

I dunno Euphoric, maybe it's just that his movies were one of the first times I can remember seeing through Hollywood's attempts to market a B-grade actor as the next big thing more or less entirely based on what they looked like.

Don't get me wrong, he's no worse than the countless others like him. It just seems fairly obvious to me that the whole Riddick series of games is more about attempting to raise his own profile and using it to jumpstart his failing career then it is about making a meaningful contribution to the gaming industry. I kind of liken it to actors who release a single or singers who star in terrible movies just to get their names back in the magazines for a while. And ultimately I think that only serves to water down the respective industries and make people more disillusioned with them.

If the new Riddick game ends up being great then fair enough, but I'll be more inclined to praise Starbreeze than Diesel. And I'm not holding my breath in any event.

You sound like you have an issue with Diesel being casted as Riddick. Honestly, I can't really imagine another person taking that role. As bad as a actor you point him out to be, without his merchandising of the franchise, Riddick wouldn't be as popular as it was when Pitch Black came out in theaters a decade ago. I actually liked the universe that the series created, so hate me for being biased.

I like Vin. He's a refreshing change from all the regular actors out there that think they're hard.

Come on, Vin beat the crap out of the Rock, how many people can do that? (I know, it's part of the story...)

Never played a Riddick game, but Riddick is one of my favourite characters so I may try and pick up Assault on Dark Athena. If I recall correctly, Ajax was a fan of that, and may pick this up if he has the time.

Pretty sure he's everything. That's what I like about him, he has a passion, a hobby and he acts on it. I see him being the kind of guy who would make a kickass game, even if it meant it took a portion of his fortune.

What's with the Diesel hate, he's one of my favorite actors.
Anyway, I love Riddick, it brings back all the fun of classic action/sci-fi movies like Alien, Predator, Terminator, etc. I really hope this happens, the first two games are great.

Yeah what is with the hate? He's not the greatest but he is passionate at what he does.

Anyway, I was hoping they'd go with a Far Cry 3 direction with this next game. It would be sooooo good.

i think hes good. I never saw an action flick and thought MY what GREAT acting.

Bruce, Arnold, Chuck, Silvester, none of them are amazing actors.

Not compared to people like Morgan Freeman or Tom Hanks.
