I'm not particularly "good" with scary games. Despite that, I'll be reviewing Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs in all of its terrifying glory. Available today, I thought long and hard about the best way to share what would be my experiences with the game. "It scared me and then didn't stop scaring me," would work, but I think we can do better. Instead I decided on this, an experimental review structure where I play the entirety of the game via livestream and let my reactions and live comments tell the truth?
Here we are then, and I'll admit I'm not exactly happy about it. That said, if I'm going to do this I'm going to do it right. I'll turn off the lights, jack up the volume on my headphones, and focus on playing the game the whole way through. The only allowances I'll make will be taking the time to read out letters in the game, answer questions from the Twitch chat, and perhaps Skype with fellow Editor Lydia Sung since I owe her after laughing while he played Outlast. Bathroom break, too.
It all starts at 3:00 PM PDT, which is in just about 15 minutes as I write this. I'll make sure to do a little introduction prior to starting the game, but in general I hope some folk will join me for the experience. If not, well, hopefully I'll be able to get a recording up for those who's rather wait to play the game themselves.
Which reminds me. This livestream will contain SPOILERS for the entire Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs game. If you do not want to be spoiled, do not watch. And in addition to that, this livestream will be for mature audiences only. Kids, don't watch this livestream without your parents. There's likely to be blood and guts and stuff, as well as an adult man crying for hours on end. That's that! I hope you'll join me as I play Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
