Capcom Online Games' debut PlayStation 4 title Deep Down just received its first gameplay trailer during last night's Sony Japan PlayStation Press Conference. Needless to say it was quite impressive, though conceptually surprising in a few ways. Straight up, Deep Down is taking heavy inspiration from Dark Souls, but that's not all -- apparently it's also taking steps from Assassin's Creed.
See, the protagonist in Deep Down reads memories or experiences or some other insanity off of artifacts and then recreates the settings from those experiences with some sort of future technology. That future technology is only briefly teased in the trailer, but we do get a pretty good look at a world being rebuilt. From there the game takes on a very Dark Souls-esque visual-style of dungeon crawling... only astoundingly beautiful.
Remember that Deep Down is an online multiplayer game and while the multiplayer isn't shown in this trailer it was teased last night, showing three knights fighting a dragon together. Slowly, with each trailer and information drop we get a better picture of what Deep Down really is... and in my opinion it looks really good. We need more Deep Down now, but we'll at least have to wait until TGS in two weeks for anything more.
