XSEED doesn't only invest in localizing modern games for a western market, they also do their best to bring over older classics that we somehow passed over. Such is the case for The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, a trilogy which XSEED is hard at work on. Trails in the Sky's first chapter was published by XSEED for PSP in 2011, but now they're bringing it to PC in addition to the trilogy's second chapter which will come to PC and PSP/Vita.
Andrew Dice, Project Director for Carpe Fulgur who is localizing the games for XSEED to publish, made the following statement:
"This is something we've had an interest in doing since practically the formation of the company. If you talk about or [sic] work with 'PC gaming from Japan', as we do, you can't really ignore Falcom's huge presence over the past three decades. Trails in the Sky is particularly special, and I'd wanted to work on it ever since the day we started business. I'm thrilled that we will finally be able to bring the game to English-speaking audiences, in partnership with XSEED."
For those unaware, though probably easily assumable, Trails in the Sky is an RPG with dozens of hours of gameplay to it.
Sorry for the complicated release details! I wish there was an easier way to describe it. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC, the first chapter, will be re-released this fall for PC. An existing PSP version of the first chapter already exists. Trails in the Sky SC (second chapter) is getting its first release in the west and will be for both PC and PSP (Vita compatible). All releases are digital through Steam and the PlayStation Store.
No word yet on The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky's third and final chapter being localized. Expect more news soon!.
