Well there's something called Theatrhythm: Curtain Call apparently on the way, so I doubt it's that, at least.

Maybe something new~ How exciting.

Is that sarcasm?
In my eyes, the FF series is always doing something new.

And I like playing new things. Coming off two similar working XIII games, a few rhythm games, and an MMO, it will be interesting to see what this is. Might be a new RPG, might be something completely different.

Why can't I be excited about new things happening in a franchise I like?

It's tougher to get excited about shit when it comes from a shit factory. Whatever legacy Square's clinging to has pretty much been beaten to death, and they know it, hence all the spin-off branding.

They need to come up with something new that isn't a slightly different jrpg with different characters (but not personalities). Or they could just keep banking on phone games... It's a little sickening knowing the gold they used to produce, but thankfully for them, most of these phoners don't have a clue what they're missing.
