Another Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag trailer featuring some of the game's open world features has been released. Running about 10 minutes long, the trailer cover features like underwater treasure hunting, cave exploration with stealth combat, bounty hunter ships and finally the brutality of harpooning. For ten minutes they cover a lot of ground, but they've a lot of features so it all comes together very nicely.
Ubisoft's voiceover guy for the trailer does a decent job of clarifying the cut-throat nature of the world, but it really doesn't prepare you for the harpooning scene. Kenway stands on the prow of his small boat slinging harpoon after harpoon at the bull shark, blood splashing into the air and spreading through the water. The shark must have had a dozen harpoons stabbed into it by the end of the video. It's all rather ghastly.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is slated for an October 29 release in North America for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, followed by next-gen releases as those consoles ship. PC release TBD. As much as the harpooning may gross me out, don't you dare edit or remove it, Ubisoft. Don't you dare.
