Wow I don't know how much I'll use this but for 'bout $4 a year, I'll get it just for the novelty of having my Pokemon stored on the internet!

No, because you have one bit of data go bad in a multiplayer session, a sprite glitches out and you move on. One bit goes wrong in long term storage and you loose 100 hours of someone's work.
Because that's going to happen with a storage system that works like this:

"slot1: (Pokemon Number and unique data, like name and stats)
slot2: etc"

If someone actually sat there and modified the data being sent (By intercepting it or something) it would most likely be detected and detained. Not to mention they most likely use a backup system.

Also, it's by Nintendo. I doubt people will have many issues with this.

What would actually happen when you do not pay up anymore? Would all your Pokemon be deleted or what?

Swampert X I suppose the account becomes frozen and you cant access it until you activate it again.
I honestly doubt they would immediately delete your account, maybe after a couple of years? It doesn't take much space to store Pokemon data.

I think this will be amazing for all those collectors who like multiple Pokemon of one species set out for various competitive uses. Plus, being able to transfer your EV-trained teams to X and Y for a measly $5 or so is excellent.

I think this is a fantastic concept. I was wondering how we'd get our Pokemon from BW, BW2 to XY. I'm not in love with the annual fee but it probably won't cost too much, and as much as I don't like it, the fee really is necessary, in my opinion. As stated in the blog, the system will require maintenance, etc. So, it's only fair.

Totally getting this.
Transfer pokemon from gen 4/5 (Note says ANY ds pokemon game) all at the very start.
Lets say my SS and HG level 1 Dialga and Palkia (Arceus Event) are going to totally going to be with me for the whole journey

Copypasting this from elsewhere:

The main issues with Pokemon Bank

1) The 3DS accepts SD cards of up to 32GB officially, and in practice cards reaching at least 256GB have been gotten working. There is absolutely no reason you shouldn't be able to just use the space on your SD card for storage boxes if on-cartridge save file size is an issue.

2) If the servers are ever damaged in some sort of accident or are taken down by Nintendo permanently for one reason or another, bam, there goes everyone's Pokemon.
I also hate how they're basically forcing you to pony up five bucks just to transfer Pokemon.

I don't really care about the subscription fee at all, doesn't phase me.

^ This. It's perfectly understandable as to why they need people to purchase this separately and I really don't mind at all.
I second that. Handy tool, will probably purchase it.

It's an interesting idea and I could see why people would want it, but I'm not too big on the monthly subscription. I think I'll get it just so I can transfer my Pokemon from Black/Black2 and then cancel my subscription at the end of the month.
it's a yearly subscription.

There's a free trial, you can use the trial to transfer your pokemon if you don't wanna pay the fee.
And I agree, I've never liked cloud services because I don't trust them with my data, I'll probably use it to transfer from game to game rather than storing them on it.

Which is why to take backups.

And servers aren't that expensive to run.

This should have been a 3DS app that stored things on the SD card.

What happens when they turn the server off for maintenance?

What happens when they shut it down?

They've jumped on "the cloud" bandwagon without thinking it through.

So you need to pay $5 a year to access it?
Looks like even Nintendo is locking features behind a paywall just like Sony/Microsoft.

those features made me feel ripped off when I bought God of War: Ascension

NUL, GameFreak should announce the exact facts of this system asap before these speculations take a higher form XD
