For those of you interested in the Xbox One's plethora of TV features, rest assured that these won't be locked behind a Gold subscription. At PAX this weekend, Microsoft confirmed that at least some functions will be available to all LIVE users.
With previous announcements, it's still unclear what does or doesn't require a Gold subscription. However, users will at least be able to connect an HDMI line between their cable box and the Xbox One's HDMI-in port. Then, you'd be able to control your TV service through the console itself.
When asked about the feature at PAX, Microsoft's Albert Penello noted that "[you] can do the HDMI pass through," as well as "do the TV guide stuff without Gold."
Some folks are claiming that Microsoft originally announced this feature as a paid service, so this latest development is another instance of the industry juggernaut waffling.
