Nintendo won't be bowing out of the console war just as Sony and Microsoft are set to launch their consoles, no sir. Today Nintendo announced that the Wii U will be dropping the Deluxe Wii U Edition price from $349.99 to $299.99, a $50 drop that will effectively begin on September 20. This will mark the Wii U as the "more affordable" console going forward, as Sony's PlayStation 4 will cost $399.99 and Microsoft's Xbox One $499.99.
Considering Nintendo's fall line-up is looking stellar (though let's not get into the fact that much of it is just their launch window titles being delayed), a price drop may be the perfect option for console buying families this fall. With Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze... well, it's a good thing I've got my console already!
Buy a Wii U for only $299.99 starting September 20, $50 cheaper than before! Come on, it's Nintendo! You know all your favorite franchises will be there sooner or later.
