So, even on games where you have to pay for online company by the developer/publisher, you still require Xbox Gold? Sounds quite shit tbh. Then again I'd rather not play MMOs on the console. Just doesn't seem right.

Knowing Microsoft it might not happen, but who knows I still think no chance it will happen.

Well, if Sony hasn't dropped it, I don't see why Microsoft would.

Microsoft previously tried to get FF14 to drop their fee in order to come to the 360, but it clearly didn't work out.

Except Sony said you don't need Plus to play games online if it's sub based or f2p

Two payments for one game, that's gonna make a lot of people change their minds about console MMOs.

In the case of TESO, you will, according to Bethesda.

Don't think you'll be safe from the double fees by getting this game on PlayStation 4, however, where you'll have the monthly TESO fee in addition to the PSN subscription fee. No word yet on whether that might be waived.

excep that link says: "Unfortunately, it doesn't SEEM like that extends to non-Sony or subscription-based MMOs"

which isnt definitive (because it DOES extend to non sony games). Also FFXIV is a NON SONY SUBSCRIPTION BASED MMO... and you dont need to pay for PSN to play it.

The greed of Microsoft has no boundary, it's time to annihilate its policy.

I really hope that Bethesda is successful in getting MS to drop the fee. It'd be ridiculous if people that played TES: O on consoles have to pay more than people that play on PC, paying more for a worse version is just BS

To be fair Microsofts greed is thwarted this time around by a pay to play subscription based MMO WITH microtransactions. *bleep* bethesda.

This is greed at its max level to try and suck in some cash before they inevitably go F2P in 6 months and Microsoft most likely knows this (that said you still shouldn't pay gold just to play FREE to play games).

If GOLD works in that it applies to all Online Multiplayer games, then it may be too much work to change for Microsoft to be willing, which sucks for anyone who wants the game on that console and wouldn't have GOLD otherwise.

On PS4, I know Free-To-Play games don't require PLUS to play online, so I imagine it would be quite simple to do with Elder Scrolls Online. In fact, I'm sure Sony would be very willing to jump at the opportunity to make Microsoft look bad, which would in turn lead Microsoft to change their policy as well.

DedValve Where have they said they're going to be using microtransactions? Nowhere have I seen this information, and in their release of the business model, they specifically said that the subscription was supposed to be the ONE fee everyone is paying, instead of a bunch of smaller fees over the month that would probably be about the same.

I misread the title, and thought it read "Microsoft wants Bethesda to drop Gold subscription fee for Elder Scrolls Online on Xbox One". Despite my neutral stand on Microsoft's more recent policies, I was baffled by the very notion of Microsoft trying to charge less.

I suppose this would be... I don't know, neat? However, if I do pick up TES Online, it's gonna be for the PC, to neatly join it's bretherin on my Steam games list.
