I've never played A Monster Hunter title, but when an Capcom releases a opening cinematic like they have here for Monster Hunter 4 I start to see why so many people love the franchise. It's a guy with some ridiculous weapon batting against a dinosaur. A dinosaur, of all things! Sadly, in this opening cinematic the players barely make any headway against the monsters, but that's sort of an interesting selling point as well.
How about this, let me play as the slow yet strong dinosaurs against a group of fast but not so strong humans (and cat people?). I would love to play on either side of that battle. Not to mention it would fulfill a lifetime team of mine of becoming a dragon. Seriously though, monster players could be ranked on their abilities just like player teams and eventually the best player teams could fight against the best monsters. Someone pay me for that idea!
Monster Hunter 4 is a 3DS exclusive game with both single and multiplayer that will be released in Japan on September 14. Just how long a localization might take, or for what platform the eventual release will be made for, is a mystery Capcom probably doesn't even know at this point. For some reason, despite the franchise's success, localization doesn't seem much of a priority to them. Maybe they're all busy fighting dinosaurs.
