"No one can stop death," says Mathael, Angel of Death. If that was true, we wouldn't be playing this expansion now, would we? Yes, there is need of the Nephalem once more! Blizzard has now announced Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, the action-RPG's first expansion with a planned release on PC/Mac in 2014. How in the world we'll defeat the Angel of Death, let alone with the Black Stone holding the Lords of Hell...
Blizzard typically goes all out with its expansions, one of the last remaining vestiges of proper expansion content rather than trash DLC. Let's cover what sort of content we can expect:
- Act V: From Westmarch to Pandemonium Fortress, Diablo III's storyline continues as the Angel of Death leaves an army of deadly enemies behind him.
- Crusader: Nothing a flail and a giant tower shield can't fix in the world of Diablo. Put on your armor, hold out your shield, and walk at your enemy until they're dead -- it's a recipe for success!
- Level-Cap Increase: Who know how many levels will be added, but it sure won't be the same as before! Nope, nope, nope!
As accompanies all of Blizzard's big announcements, we have a cinematic trailer in addition to a gameplay trailer to watch. The cinematic trailer is actually the opening cinematic from the expansion and for those who have played Diablo III... it's certain to get your blood boiling. The gameplay trailer touches on all of the additional content, giving us a first look at everything in action.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls will be launching in 2014 on the PC and Mac. No word of a console port just yet -- they're only just getting the original game! And of course, it should be noted, that the expansion requires both the full version of the original game and a permanent internet connection to play.
