Twitch.tv dropped the mic today, announcing they'll be providing both streaming and spectating services for the PlayStation 4. Yes, Twitch.tv is now confirmed for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Streaming will work through Sony's ingrained system, which means broadcasting to your channel is just the click of the Share button away. Spectating will require the download of an app, but don't worry -- Sony doesn't put apps like Twitch.tv behind their pay-wall. No PS Plus subscription necessary!
To be completely honest, I was rather disappointed in Twitch up to this point. I'd even sent them a couple of frustrated tweets after they announced what seemed like exclusivity for the Xbox One for next gen. I mean, currently they have an exclusive deal with the Xbox 360 for their app. It's still not on PS3 and there's no announcement that it will get there... ever. This PS4 news is important to me though. Not only do I stream on occasion, but I tend to have a stream via Twitch.tv up all day long. It's better on TV than on PC!
Twitch.tv streaming in your PlayStation 4 via the Share button, and spectating via a special app. No complaints here! Good on Twitch for ensuring gamers on all next-gen platforms can partake in a growing trend in gaming.
