I mean how can GTA V compete with Aliens, Superpowers and being President? Saints Row 3.5 I mean Saints Row IV is probably great.

I think Volition is not trying to compete with GTA V as much as they are going the route of completely ignoring it. I am quite sure that the devs over at Volition know that they can't play on the same field as Rockstar, a dev company many times larger, better funded, and with Take2 pouring in huge advertising revenue. I am quite sure that the goal over at Volition is not to compete with GTA V but to continue creating their own niche. SR3 defined the niche they began carving out, and SR IV is taking that up several levels.

All that said, I am incredibly impressed with the online GTA V trailer. It looks like insane fun, particularly compared to GTA IV. I have the feeling Rockstar is trying to win back the old school fans like me who were disappointed that GTA IV wasn't a "next gen San Andreas." Regardless, now it looks like there are three fantastic sandbox series' to love, Saint's Row, Just Cause, and GTA.

Yeah Volition stopped competing with R* after Saints Row 2. They're entirely different now.

I've been through four sets of underwear today thanks to this. And I only saw it an hour ago, this is ridiculous.

No word on co-op though, starting to look unlikely.

I guess the mention of 'structured missions' within the online multiplayer means we'll be able to undertake them with other players?

I find it hard to believe that there'll be this entirely seperate campaign within the multiplayer with different characters and missions. I mean isn't that like doubling the work of creating the main campaign? Touche if Rockstar have pulled it off!

I wasn't talking about the similarities in gameplay but rather the release window they chose for SRIV. It's only weeks before the release of GTAV. To me that's them trying to compete with R*.

I have the feeling that the online structure and philosophy (for lack of a better word) of GTA V is going to be a great deal more similar to the way Criterion built the online community for Burnout Paradise than anything Volition is doing with co op in SR2 trough SR IV.

It also looks like in addition to 16 players, versus the 8 in Paradise Freeburn rooms, that Rockstar really is fleshing out the community aspects of GTA V to a much greater degree than even Criterion did, and that is saying something, because the online community of Paradise was absolutely unbelievable, particularly considering this all took place five years ago. I am really starting to get excited about GTA V for probably the first time since its announcement.

It's just that time of year. Fall is when the "big" games come out.

Nah I think people will rent it for a couple of weeks just as a filler for GTA, for people wanting to get their open world sandbox fun crime kind of fix.

Also top screenshot, I'm getting a Verdant Meadows kind of vibe from that landscape.

Explain this to me. Is this the online feature for GTAV or a new thing entirely? If its the online feature for GTAV, I'll finish it a few days after its out. What will i do until October 1st?

I usually don't really care about online games but this sounds pretty great. I love the idea of just roaming the GTA world with 15 other random people in it. Hopefully I can think of some fun ways to troll people in it
