Forging a hero? Hopefully this time I can forge a cute loli hero to play as when I don't want to play my normal guy hero

Forge a hero huh. Is that like code for an incoming enhanced character customization trailer or something (please let it be)?

Yes, it's been one of my most wanted features to be included for Dark Souls 2, right behind a more fleshed out dual wielding combat system(which we got!). So I'm crossing my fingers.

"we can all dive back into the masochistic hell that is Dark Souls"
"I do anticipate ripping my hair out quite often, though. R.I.P., my sanity."

Dark Souls wasn't that difficult, it just wasn't a run 'n slash game.

If you dodge frequently, you might notice times when the AI will have an opening for you to attack.

An example being, when the first boss in the tutorial level slams(not swings) down its club and you can run up and attack.

The strategy of Dark Souls is basically dodge, look for opening, dodge, attack once or twice during opening, dodge away and repeat.

I'm honestly hoping for the ability to transfer over your character from the first dark souls.

In theory it's easy, but it doesn't always work out like that. I've been overrun by normal Hollows before. If you make a mistake you are usually punished, and that's what makes it so hard.

Enemies in DkS2 are getting vastly improved AI, and pivot speed. Abusing a light roll won't be an instant ticket to victory in small engagements anymore. Most of what we know for DkS2's changes in game mechanics, are purely nerfs to the common tactics to win forever in DkS1, including dodge rolling.

Also probably worth considering that dodging correctly and making use of the iFrames it grants, does take timing and practice. You can call it easy if you want, maybe you played a ton of DeS or games with similar mechanics for surviving, but that doesn't necessarily make it an easy game itself. Just means you are a good player. Pat yourself on the back for being such an amazing player that you can take a game that is difficult and destroy it. Is it the hardest game ever? Of course not. It's a reasonably difficult game that will not save a player in trouble, they'll die for making a bad mistake, which is rather the point. There's no quicktime event in Anor Londo's Church for grabbing a hold of the rafter if you fall. There's no NPC giving you advice over a radio for how to win. There's no minimap showing you where enemies are, or where to go. The game was designed to be difficult, and considering it's reputation, I'd say it succeeded.
