Update: Damn! Well if that isn't the fastest official confirmation ever! XSEED Games has just confirmed the localization of Senran Kagura Burst for the 3DS this fall, which I believe is the second game in the franchise? The third being the Vita fighting game I mention in the article below.
"Players assume control of the five primary female characters in each academy who aspire to become full-fledged shinobi. Within the “Ninja Room” hub located in each academy, character interactions reveal the thoughts and feelings of the students before and after each game mission. Novel-style story scenes then precede other missions, offering a deeper look into the world of Senran Kagura. The drama of the battle adventure unfolds as players complete combat assignments for each of the main characters, including retrieval missions, multi-character battles and epic boss fights. During combat, damage to the girls is revealed through the gradual destruction and removal of their shinobi outfits. The original Japanese voice-overs have been left intact and will be accompanied by English subtitles."
Look forward to more information on Senran Kagura Burst in the weeks ahead, probably at HanzoNationalAcademy.com whenever it launches.
Original Story: It seems like an excited niche of gamers was 100% correct, guessing that XSEED Games' beige teaser yesterday represented Senran Kagura. It was literally a beige square and somehow those impressive nerds guessed it immediately. Anyway, the semi-confirmation comes today as XSEED Games has registered the domain "HanzoNationalAcademy.com" which is the setting for our ninja high school game.
Erm, wait, what kind of game is it again? Well, if XSEED was going to start with the first Senran Kagura it'd be an action game for the 3DS, but I don't think that's where they're going. I think they're going to localize the latest Senran Kagura, a fighting game for the PlayStation Vita. That's mostly because XSEED tends to prefer the platform, but also simply due to the fact that it's a relatively recent game -- more likely to gain traction.
Who knows though, maybe XSEED will do us all a solid and start the franchise localizations from the start. After all, this is all speculation until XSEED makes an announcement. Get hyped for project "Beige"! Err, Senran Kagura, all about those ninja girls and made just for awkward boys -- Japan's finest.
