EA executives revealed the tentative release window for their first Star War game today in a stockholders call. Star Wars: Battlefront, a reboot in development at EA DICE, is planned to be released around the same time as the next main franchise Star Wars film. That is, it should hit store shelves around summer of 2015. Basically, what EA told stockholders was: "Buy now."
Seriously, imagine millions Star Wars fans pouring out of theaters thinking, "Oh my, I've gots to get me some more Star Wars right about yesterday." They get home, they log onto their computer and poof, invasive EA Origin sales message appears on-screen stating Star Wars: Battlefront is back and now available. Take down the SimCity servers, they'll need the extra power for Battlefront's launch day.
Wait, summer 2015? That's... that's two years away. If anybody needs me I'll be attempting to put myself in cryostasis by filling the bathtub with ice (please make sure I'm alive in the morning).
Star Wars: Battlefront has no announced platforms, no announced details, but it'll be landing in 2015... hopefully. No jinxies. Watch the teaser trailer a dozen more times to cope with this news.
