Ubisoft's free-to-play hack and slash title The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is holding another open beta week, starting today. The "Open House" event gives anyone who registers a chance to try the game out between July 30 and August 6, despite the game still being in beta. Check out the game's website if you're interested in giving the game a spin and try out Sir Painhammer the Knight, Blackeye Bogart the Archer or The Earl of Evilosity Mage.
As a special event the development steam is instating a game-wide chicken hunt titled "UNLEASH THE CHICKENS!":
"If the community is able to extinguish the existence of no less than 10 million chickens during the course of the second Open House event – the chicken will be unlocked and become available as a castle defense item for all players in the next game update. Chickens have been seen congregating in Castle Chicken Shack and Castle Chicken HQ – you must band together to end their feathery, bucket-headed plots once and for all!"
In addition to the start of the second "Open House" event, there are some serious changes to the The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot's microtransactions. Namely, the development team has heard fan criticisms of pay-to-win microtransactions and rolled back several changes made recently. Namely, players will no longer be able to purchase machine upgrades from here on. Good on the team for making the right choice.
The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot currently has no release date, but if you've got a PC and don't mind registering for uPlay then head over to the game's website and download right now.
