The wait is finally over, as 2K today unveils BioShock Infinite add-ons Clash in the Clouds and the upcoming Burial at Sea. What's the deal with the two-part announcement, you wonder? Well, the first is just a challenge map pack, available as of today, July 30, while the latter is a more ambitious project that takes players back to Rapture. Now that should definitely be worth the hype.
For gamers out there who enjoy a good challenge, Clash in the Clouds adds a number of new maps that serve as an arena for Booker and his foes. Face off against familiar enemies from BioShock Infinite and complete challenges for unlocks. Here's a brief description:
This first add-on pack puts an intense focus on BioShock Infinite combat. Combine weapons, Vigors, Gear, Tears, and Sky-Lines in ways you never thought possible as you square off against impossible odds. This pack features 60 challenges in four brand-new environments. Complete Blue Ribbon Challenges and unlock concept art, Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, and more in The Columbian Archeological Society. Climb the Leaderboards and earn new achievements.
The Clash in the Clouds DLC will be rolling out today, but 2K Games did mention that it may take a few days to reach all platforms in all regions. If you're interested, this challenge pack will be priced at 400 Microsoft Points or $5.

Moving on to the good stuff. As the name implies, Burial at Sea will be returning to Rapture (Many of you no doubt saw this coming.) just before the underwater city meets its end. You'll be meeting an alternate Booker and Elizabeth, with modified gameplay that more closely resembles the original BioShock combat style -- with a few improvements from Infinite's design book.
Come back to Rapture in a story that finds Booker and Elizabeth on the eve of the underwater city's fall from grace. Developed by Irrational Games, the developer of the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite, this DLC features Rapture as you’ve never seen it before—a shining jewel at the bottom of the ocean, built almost entirely from scratch in the BioShock Infinite engine. Gameplay has been modified to give the player an original BioShock combat experience that merges the best parts of BioShock and BioShock Infinite: new weapons, new Plasmids/Vigors, Tears, Sky-Lines, and Big Daddies.
Beyond that, we don't know much else about Burial at Sea right now. The DLC doesn't have a release date or estimated price just yet, but it will be an episodic release. 2K and Irrational did tease that in Episode 2, players would be stepping into Elizabeth's shoes for a change, as in playing as Elizabeth. Color me really excited, especially with after picking her role apart.
