I'm thinking the same, ever since I watched Indie Game the Movie he is just one of those people you know will have a little tantrum over a bit of hateful media, heck he should see what most of the normal gamers think of him, nevermind one commentator.

most people go way over the top with the whole hate train with fish imho, but it's not like the guy helps himself

idk this is either a cry for help or just fish being fish. probably the latter

The Andy Kaufman avatar he's sporting on Twitter leads me to believe you are correct. Might as well be a trollface.

i have no idea who all these people are but i already get the impression we're dealing with a bunch of vocal hotheaded asos that got carried away by the oldest problem on the internet :/

thanks for letting us know about the game either way although the fight itself could have been left out. when you see one of these flame pyramids you've seen them all. it kinda works like a riot, people get carried away and turn into animals.

I considered leaving out the argument part, especially Beer's rant, because it's pure nonsense, but at least in this case I figured the story is just as much the context as it is just Fez 2 being canceled.

i guess so. perhaps someone will see this article and learn from this.

oh well. let's see where this will go. knowing how this kind of insanity usually goes i'm guessing those folks will wake up with a bad feeling tomorrow morning.

So, Beer was being uncalled for and Fish is being a crybaby?

DRAMAAAAA!

But in all seriousness, I've seen people in the gaming industry overreact before, but the cancellation of a solid game? Ridiculous.

What a baby. Just make the game you want and ignore the haters. That's called "creative freedom".

Phil Fish is an a-hole and a jerk. He's said tons of mean and rude things to others in the past and throws a hissy fit and quits the industry. I say good riddance. Don't need a bunch of whiny babies giving the indie game scene a bad rep.

And I have sadly seen too many people defending Fish saying that Beer "went too far". Really? REALLY?! Sure I agree that Fish and Blow shouldn't have to make comments if they don't want to, I don't agree with Beer (other than him stating how crappy of a person Fish is). But saying he went to far? No he didn't. I've had meaner things said to me by people I have worked for before. If that mild rant by Beer is enough to set you off, then you probably should just avoid life all together. Because that's far from "too far". If you can't handle criticism, especially hateful criticism, then don't get involved in the media and entertainment. There will ALWAYS be critics and there will ALWAYS be people (usually a lot) who hate you. Learn to deal with it if you are going to be in the industry.

i'm pretty sure what actually sent fish over the edge was the usual response from /v/ and reddit on the matter

it's kind of myopic to presume fish cancelled the game on a whim, rather than a build up of constant abuse (which in all fairness, he didn't exactly do much to prevent)

also are you seriously telling me beer was acting in a professional manner? like, disregard fish's reaction here a sec, and tell me you think marcus beer wasn't being a royal dick

I always found it funny that only Fish would get bashed by people for being an asshole on twitter but people like Hideki Kamiya get a free pass.
ALso lol @ Marcus Beer getting mad at Fish and Blow for not answering the media's questions.

Kamiya doesn't go out of his way to aggravate people, he usually just responds to what he sees as being people dicks with his own brand of dickishness. Kamiya doesn't make blanket statements like "all japanese games suck". Kamiya actually makes decent games.

Just take a look at Kamiya's twitter account and compare it to Fish's. Kamiya's jerk moves are a small part of everything he says. He answers fan questions, he's playful and can joke around.

I do think there's a bit of bias when people prefer Kamiya to Fish, but it's not unjustified; Fish really seems to want people to hate him.

Like I said I don't agree with Beer. Yes he was being a dick I admit that. But he was only mildly being a dick. I have heard way worse things said before in media and real life. And no matter what you think of Fish's games or Beer's comments, you got to admit Fish had this coming. He has said tons of rude things in the past and has been a complete asshole to people and has shown here he doesn't give two craps about his fans (which was apparent before this from other crap he's said). So I feel no sympathy for him. You can't treat people like crap, spout your mouth off insulting people, then get mad when people do the same to you. Don't reap what you can't sow.

Honestly, Fish has some neat ideas and while I wasn't that big on the entire game, I thought Fez had a wonderful art direction and the music was fantastic. What I wish would happen is that Fish would grow the hell up, learn to be a mature adult, and come back to the industry and continue making games. I don't totally hate the guy and he's got good ideas. But if he is going to act like a spoiled five year old, then he doesn't belong in the industry.

People need to be more like Edmund McMillen. He makes amazing games and doesn't give crap what anyone says. Ed is my gaming hero.
