If fans of the F.E.A.R. franchise still exist after F.E.A.R. 3 and were wondering what would be coming next, here's your answer. Introducing F.E.A.R. Online, developed by Korean studio Inplay Interactive. F.E.A.R. Online is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter with both team-based competitive modes and cooperative scenarios. Yes, the story of Alma Wade continues, but this certainly isn't the F.E.A.R. we grew up with.
Tom Nichols, Vice President of PC Games at F.E.A.R. Online's North American publisher Aeria Games, offered the following statement:
“We are thrilled to present the next entry in one of the most popular horror franchises of the last decade. F.E.A.R. Online will bring back the tense, heart-pounding action that the series is known for and make it accessible to a huge online community of competitive players.”
Content in the game includes 10 maps for "several team combat modes" which include features like, uh, dead bodies hanging from hooks. F.E.A.R. 3's Soul King mode will be making a return as one of those modes. In reference to the cooperative gameplay, teams of four will play through several scenarios that run parallel to the events of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
As mention earlier, F.E.A.R. Online is free-to-play and exclusive to PC. If you're a big F.E.A.R. fan then make sure to head over to Aeria Games' site for F.E.A.R. Online and sign up for the currently closed beta. No official release date is currently announced.
