Of course these are the same guys who got up on their soapbox and declared that games are too expensive and something has to be done.
They seriously said that? They're like, "Okay. The base games will now be $30 - much cheaper than the $60-70 you're seeing now. BUT - we'll give you a whole 5% of the content. The rest will be micro-transactions."
Thats pretty much what most DLC has been, but for the full $60.
They've come out and said it, Jim Sterling even quoted them in one episode of the JimQuisition. I don't remember the exact quote but they pretty much said that game prices are too high and the industry needs to makes changes, or something to that affect.

Lol! EA is coming out with Plants vs Zombies 2, which will supposedly be free.. But here's the catch - the majority of the content, including new plants, maps, etc will be micro-transactions. I believe they also made Real Racing 3 into a game where the majority of the cars and tracks are micro-transactions.

I honestly don't mind micro-transactions, but with EA they've got it less where you're paying for extra, but more where you're paying for content that should have been in the base game.

...I only play battlefield in spurts, or they could lower the price of premium to a more fair $20.
If you're lucky, you may be able to catch Premium on a rare sale. It was only $15.00 earlier this summer.
One thing I hate is that my BF3 Xbox 360 account and PC account are completely separate despite being registered to the same email/soldier on battlelog. I bought BF3 day one for x360 and bought premium. I switched over to the PC version and premium is only applied to my xbox account and not PC so I have absolutely zero DLC.
