Game Freak's era of tiny experimental 3DS eShop exclusives continues! The Pokemon behemoth developer seems to be having a lot of find creating smaller, unique games on the side and their latest announcement is no different. Introducing Soriti Horse, a horse racing game where solitaire is played to improve the player relationship with the horse. Add in a unique puzzle-like system for the actual horse racing and boom. Wonderfully creative Game Freak game.
Naturally, Soriti Horse is currently planned for release exclusively in Japan. Where HarmoKnight had a bit of broad appeal what with its adventure theme, Soriti Horse is, well, a harder sell. Still, the fact that it's much smaller in scale than a full release and that it's made by freakin' Game Freak should be more than enough to have it localized eventually. Also, the horses look adorable!
In Soriti Horse gameplay is split into two different phases. The first phase, the solitaire phase, lets you play the traditional card game in order to level up the relationship between rider and horse. Take those newfound racing talents to the track in phase two, where responding to on-screen cues that will shift and change based on track conditions, will effect whether you win or lose.
HarmoKnight launched internationally about six months after its release in Japan. Since Soriti Horse will be launching next week in Japan, it's probably safe to say we may be hearing about it again towards the end of the year or into January. Horses!
