For those who have been watching Carbine Studio's race reveal trailers for WildStar, you may recall that one species from each faction was quite clearly avoided. As with all secrets, they come to light eventually. During the WildStar panel at 2013's San Diego Comic-Con both races were fully unveiled with a brand new trailer featuring the characters from the initial videos. Welcome to Nexus the Chua, brilliant rodents that side with the Dominion, and the Mordesh, diseased outsiders of the Exiles.
The Chua are a genderless gremlin species of maniacal geniuses. Despite their lack of gender, however, they still seem to have stereotypical feminine or masculine customizations. For instance, fur color from blue to pink, hair styles including odd pony tails or mohawks, and jewelry like earrings. While most marketing material shows them with bombs or pistols, hopefully they'll be able to play all classes.
The Mordesh were described to us as the "emo kids" of the Exile faction. Said to once have been the most beautiful race in the universe (think Tolkein elves), the Mordesh were struck by a terrible disease that rots away their bodies. Instead of giving in, they resorted to alchemy and the dark arts to begin replacing disease-effected body parts. Instead of living arms, they have robotic bits powered by a special type of potion. What was is called, Vivitonic? Something along those lines.
Still no word on when WildStar will be released or when it will be opening its beta up to a wider population. Hell, I can't even get Carbine to answer my requests about press releases. Those guys are focused 100% on developing one epic MMO, so until the next DevSpeak or big reveal, let's just sit back and ponder what sort of character we'll end up rolling when the game finally launches.
