So wait, because the download doesn't lag enough with my sub-par internet connection, I can make it lag even more by playing a game that is going to lag after a few minutes and ultimately frustrate me even more than watching a progress bar?

I jest, but that's actually a pretty cool feature, at least if you've got a good connection. Still, it's not enough to make up for all the other ways that the Xbox One has failed to amaze, or even intrigue me, especially since this is a feature already announced for the PS4.

Cool. Not really a selling point or anything that makes me want an xbox, but its a nifty feature at least.

Is this newsworthy? Current gen consoles can already do this...

Another week, another PS4 feature being copied by XBox to try and up their disappointing sales.

Arjy no they can't, what are you smoking?

PS3 introduced partial downloads with The Last of Us. Granted its just for one game at the moment but if it has the capability then its not really surprising that the next gen will do it.

Nice new feature. I can't really see myself using it since I usually go YouTube for a bit on my laptop while my games download, and even then the games I download don't take too long. Now, if Microsoft had gone totally digital with their games then this would be a lot more useful (to me, at least) and would be a lot more interesting. But for now I guess it's just another bonus.

For both consoles, downloading updated patches every time you put your new discs will be a thing of the past

If they have this, I can see them also allowing pre-downloading a game digitally and it unlocking at midnight. No more standing in the cold at a midnight release!

How do we know the consoles already had basically the same types of things installed into their hardware?
The PlayStations and Xboxes have always been very similar. It's very much possible they had ideas that turned out to be the same.

This is something that I am looking forward to. If I am not planning on doing any kind of special edition digital downloads will make me a very happy man.

Now that I would like. Standing in line waiting for Call of Duty Black Ops 2 was awful, considering I was there with two other people who make me want to rip all my hair out. -.-

I'm with Darknet. I could see this opening the door for pre-purchasing games like what Steam offers.

I, too would be a very happy man if they did this. My Gamestop is so crowded for every midnight release, and personally I would love to download the game right in my own house and play it as soon as it finishes downloading.

rayce darknet i dont mind the lines at gamestop for a midnight elease, i actually like going to midnight releases. Its sort of a gaming community tradition that i enjoy. Not to mention i got a free shirt and limited artwork poster at arkham city release party lol.
