If you haven't heard of the upcoming LEGO movie then you must not have gone to the theaters in the past six months. The LEGO Movie is about LEGO characters dealing with LEGO problems, and not just any random set of LEGOs -- all of them. It only makes sense that they turn the blasted thing into a video game, considering they turn everything else into a video game... and so they have!
The LEGO Movie Videogame has been announced for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC, as well as Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita handhelds. It's coming to everything in 2013 alongside the release of the movie itself, as well as a series of building sets that will probably make a billion dollars.
Let's set up the story so everyone knows the premise of this ridiculous monstrosity:
"The LEGO Movie Videogame puts LEGO kids into the role of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Players guide him as he is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared."
As usual, or perhaps more than usual, The LEGO Movie Videogame will be aimed towards a young audience in both humor and style. Still, the LEGO games never fail to deliver on exceptionally solid gameplay, even if it isn't the most complex of experiences.
