Killer Instinct was showcased in a special event at EVO this weekend and the team at Double Helix Games didn't come empty handed. A series of showmatches were played, hyping the fighting game community up for the upcoming Xbox One game. In addition to that, however, a new trailer showing gameplay mechanics like combo breakers and counter breakers were shown. Also, a teaser for the axe-wielding Chief Thunder!
Yes, none other than the one of the most controversial native american stereotype characters in the history of games, Chief Thunder, will be returning for Killer Instinct 2013. Holding an axe in each hand, Chief Thunder sport a mohawk and a grimace, joining the Killer Instinct tournament to find his brother Eagle. Due in part to how terrible a stereotype he was, he didn't not appear in Killer Instinct 2.
With the addition of Chief Thunder (which is technically unconfirmed at this point) the roster for Killer Instinct 2013 rises up to 8. We've got Black Orchid, Chief Thunder, Cinder, Fulgore, Glacius, Jago, Saberwulf, and Spinal -- all characters returning from the original Killer Instinct.
No release date has yet been announced for Killer Instinct on the Xbox One, though a sort of free-to-play demo of the game where characters can be unlocked is planned. Stay tuned for more information on the most hyped fighting game of the year, err, behind Divekick, soon.
Forgive the IGN logo, they're exclusively hosting the trailers right now.
