In a surprise announcement during a panal at EVO 2013 this afternoon, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono announced that another huge version update will be coming to Street Fighter IV. While the full reveal, including official name and trailer, will be coming tomorrow during the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition EVO finals we do have some hard details now. The new version will include 5 new characters, six stages, and huge balance updates coming Xbox 360, PS3 and PC as a $15 update or $40 standalone game -- early 2014.
Five characters have been announced and four have been named. Let's go down the list. Hugo Andore, German farmer and Final Fight veteran, tops the list. East African princess Elena, doctor and Japanese exchange student, returns from Street Fighter III. Hugo's manager and fellow Final Fight veteran Poison, member of the Mad Gear gang and rad as hell, is welcomed back to the roster. Finally, our third Final Fight veteran, Rolento with his red scarf and beret. The fifth, unknown character, is said to be an original creation.
What the what!? Street Fighter IV was released in 2009 and here we are four years later and the game is headlining the EVO Championship Series and getting a huge update with five new characters? Damn, fighting games and their insane communities are amazing.
Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and next... ? Look forward to the new version's full announcement and debut trailer tomorrow during the EVO finals for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Hugo is my new main!
