Can't say that this news surprises me because of some of the lousy decisions made by those within the company. Cancelling Mega Man games definitely hurt their image and their bottom line, and I wouldn't be surprised if bad decision-making was part of what led to the layoffs.

Not very surprising but hopefully its a change for the better. Sad to see Svensson leave but at least it was of his own accord

Good. They are finally getting bitten back on their ass for what they've been doing.

What else can I say that he was the man who took all of the shit but had none of the power. Not the best job, especially when he had no choice but to keep morale high to fans while Capcom seemingly wanted nothing more than to destroy it, he really had a tough job.

Best of luck to him and for the love of god avoid all companies like Capcom in the future. Hope he gets a good job at a better company.

Here's hoping this shocks them into realizing they should probably do something good with their biggest IP for the first time in...a long while?

Or any IP. Mega Man fans are still waiting for something decent for his 25th anniversary.

And Mega Man fans deserve a heck of a lot better than (for all intents and purposes) getting stood up on Mega Man's 25th Anniversary. The karma lady is not nice.

MMBN7, tailored to be more like 2&3 than any other game of the series?

Come on capcom, you made a great sequel to the series twice, you can do it again!

As much as I'd love a Battle Network 7, I'd also be happy with a new X.

But Lorx, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter are still printing money for them. Except for that Tekken crossover.

Just saying, your favorite =/= Capcom's biggest or most profitable. Every sequential game since the early to mid 2000's, barring the "retro" entries of MM9 and 10 have scored and sold less and less than their predecessors. X5 was the last good game in the X series unless you want to get into the technicality of the Zero series which was also great up until ZX and that was a PS1 game.

Cancelling those games was a good idea, especially the outsourced ones. What they need to do is wipe the slate clean, give it a couple years and start over before MegaMan is another Sonic.

Anyway, I'm sad to see Sven go, he was one of the guys fighting for MH localizations the most when it was still super niche.

I wonder what their split looks like right now actually. I agree, Megaman is not selling for them right now, and hasn't for quite a few releases, the comment was more aimed that it's one of their flagship IPs in the idea of everybody knows about it, megaman's one of those household names in gaming, even if he hasn't been relevant to anything new & good in some time. Well, besides perhaps the new SSB, if that even counts.

Really good parallel to Sonic games actually, hadn't thought of that. Though I guess SEGA waved around with bad games for longer than Capcom has with megaman before shuffling him off-stage for a bit.
