Yesterday we were sitting around wondering if Sony was going to reveal a new PlayStation 4 Move controller. Today we now know that Insomniac Games is developing Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, a single player story-driven experience that serves as an epilogue to Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time. That's the miracle of leaks in the modern era. I'd feel bad, but IGN or somebody probably has the exclusive anyway.
In addition to leaked images of Insomniac team members playing the game on their friends list on PS3, a website for the game also briefly went up. That means we have a short feature list to share:
- "A return to the future - Series protagonists, Ratchet and Clank, return along with Captain Qwark, Talwyn, Cronk and Zephyr in a brand-new, story-driven single-player adventure."
- "Even more crazy weapons and gadgets for your arsenal - Arm yourself with a variety of exotic new weapons and gadgets, including the Winterizer and Nether Blades."
- "Clank strikes back - All-new gameplay offers inter-dimensional challenges where Clank can alter gravity, manupulate objects and solve mind-bending platforming puzzles."
- "Discover new worlds... and the dangers of space - Traverse through the zero-gravity of space and explore a mysterious sector filled with new planets to explore with hidden dangers and dark secrets yet to be uncovered."
Yes, good old Ratchet and Clank are back in a full-fledged adventure, rather than a half-hearted spin-off. The story starts with an arrest, a jailbreak, and an inter-dimensional event that threatens the universie (of course). It all comes down Ratchet and his trusty sidekick to do what's right. How's that for an ominous teaser?
Rumor is Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus will be for PlayStation 3, though I wouldn't say a release on PlayStation 4 would be out of this world either. Expect much more information to be released tomorrow when the game is officially set to be unveiled -- launch trailer and all. For now, check out these leaked images and if you're anything like me, be both happy and sat they're returning -- and finishing their story together.
At least, before they're back in their very own movie!
Update: Oh! Look at that. The official PlayStation Blog announced the game about 10 minutes after we reported on the leak. Hooray! Breaking news! As Slash says in the comments, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus will released this holiday season for $30 and is exclusive to the PlayStation 3.
