Call of Duty: Ghosts will be releasing on November 5, so it's probably about time everyone starts thinking about pre-order bonuses, right? After all, you may not know which console you want to purchase the game, let alone whether say the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will be available by then or not, but pre-order multiplayer maps? Lock it in. After all, you don't want to be one of those heathens that don't have that map, right?
Free Fall isn't just any map either, it takes place on the top of of a crumpled skyscraper. Basically imagine staircases, elevator shafts and office buildings flipped on their side. Now imagine they're change in a variety of as-yet-unclear ways. It's all dynamic, of course.
Infinity Ward exec Mark Rubin detailed the dynamic nature of their multiplayer maps:
"Dynamic map events change the way players approach the game, and Free Fall does a great job illustrating this new mechanic. As the match progresses, the geometry of the world continues to change and players need to adjust on the fly or else. It's a really fun new feature that adds layers of strategy and constantly evolving gameplay options for players. And this is just one of the many new approaches we're putting into Ghosts' multiplayer across the board. There's so much more that we look forward to sharing in the weeks to come."
If you love Call of Duty and you're not an overly critical gamer like me, it's probably worth checking out the Free Fall map pre-order bonus. After all, it may very well be the only way to pick up a great map and -- I mean, let's be honest -- most people know they'll be buying the game no matter its quality. Why not get the pre-order bonus too?
Personally, I disdain preorder bonuses a bit more than I disdain exclusive multiplayer maps that divide the community. I love me some Call of Duty, however. Such is life.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be the first of the franchise to come to next-gen consoles. It launches November 5 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and then on Xbox One and PS4 whenever they officially launch. Check out the concept art for Free Fall in the gallery below. Dog.
