The Wall Street Journal is reporting that according to several sources Google is developing a video game console. Powered by Android, these sources say that Google is trying to position itself to compete with similar devices that may also be released in the future. Wait, does that mean these sources are also saying there's a rumored Apple console in development? I have a headache.
I'm pretty sure the WSJ is just trolling us with this article as it's so scant on detail as to be nonsense. What specifically makes this device that Google is working on a video game console? Is it just a phone with an HDMI-out port? Are they developing a console OS to distribute only games? Is the console actually just the watch they're also developing, only not on your wrist?
Come on, for a really juicy rumor you've got to give us a little bit more than that. All "video game console" provides is a device that plays games and probably outputs to the television. Of which there are many Android devices readily available that do just that. If we're talking about a console to play more Android mobile games on I'm going to wish I hadn't written up this rumor at all.
