How about a 2D fantasy adventure adventure with procedurally generated castles and dungeons, where very time a character dies its progeny inherits the gold and previously purchased upgrades? Sounds complicated, right? It's much simpler and much less forgiving in practice. Welcome to Rogue Legacy, a newly released title from Cellar Door games that's available right now on PC via various outlets with both DRM and no DRM. Plus, it's only $15.
One of the worst parts of every rogue-like title is dying with a backpack full of gold, an epic suit of armor and losing all of it. Rogue Legacy is going out of its way to make at least a little of that pain less unforgivable. Each time your character dies, your new character gets all of the gold he you had previously. You can then use said gold to purchase a number of upgrades that will last from that point on, spanning multiple generations.
Now add in procedurally generated maps that change each time a character dies and each one including four separate areas of varying difficulty. Then add in at least 8 character classes to pick from each time a new character is chosen, each with their own unique skills and challenges. How about clowns? Apparently there are clowns in Rogue Legacy.
Pick Rogue Legacy up right now on PC for only $14.99 and definitely check out the launch trailer below.
