A NeoGaf user in the Netherlands stumbled upon a potential PlayStation 4 release date on a poster adverstisement at the local Media Markt. Is November 13, 2013 the date Sony fans can look forward to? This is the best evidence we've seen yet, but let's take a moment to reitterate that this is 100% rumor until Sony officially confirms it. Anyone could have posted that sign... even Microsoft!
Let's do a quick analysis so we can get our bearings on this stormy sea of rumors, yaharr. Consoles launch in November, it's a fact, so no rules broken there. Consoles launch before Black Friday, goo there too. Every console since the original Xbox has launched between November 15 and November 22. Ruh ruh, we're a little early on this one, but close enough for comfort. What could explain the earliness? How about racing a certain other console to market?
Something else worth considering is that global releases, especially those in Europe, tend to take a bit longer than release dates in North America. A region-free console may make it simpler, but organizing a global release in a single day is... impressive, and unlikely. Will North America be getting it earlier than Nov. 13?
Look forward to more information as we approach November. Before more information, however, will come dozens comments from Sony stating: "We do not comment on rumors and specultion." Officially the PlayStation 4 will be launching this holiday season, costing $399.99. Now to decide on launch games to pick up...
