The first game was rush for CEO money-making last time, but this time they need a great amount of development time to fully utilise next gen capabilities....

I think I might be a bit spoiled, since I kind of expected a more open world concept to be in the next Mirror's Edge. Given how most other city platformers and adventurers have gone, it'd make little sense not to, really.

I sorta liked the linearity they had going in the first game. Every new building you entered was totally different -- different colors, different designs, ect, and that kept everything fresh. If it's open world, you might pass the same building over and over again, and it just sorta gets old.

This is great news imo, as it would mean there will be a multitude of routes between point A and B. Something the first game did a few times, but not enough.

I like Mirror’s Edge Catalyst but I must be honest, I kinda like that game gamesparta.com/the-legend-of-zelda-wii-u little better. I actually even bought myself Wii-U to play it, lol

I hear ya.

Though I'm excited as *bleep* for an open world Mirror's Edge, I can't help but think that the lack of the linearity that made the first game so interesting and fun will ruin it a little. In the first game, there was nowhere to go but forwards, you're always progressing, rarely if ever crossing the same place twice (in fact, there's zero re-visiting), but I just know that the levels in Catalyst are gonna recycle places in the world alot, which will be one hell of a change.

I'm kinda wondering how it'll effect speedrunning aswell, since speedrunning was one of the most popular parts of the old game (and what brought most of the community for the game together back then), it'd be a damn shame for us to have no easy option for it. Here's hoping a speedrun mode where you literally blast through the story levels like the old game, aiming for the best time.
