The PlayStation 4 is doing many a thing right, and maybe we can add one more to the list. During the Sony E3 2013 press conference I noticed a specific Tweet overhead during a social media slide that read, "Will it be region-free?" I thought Sony was being snarky, but it turns out, according to a report via Twitter, the PlayStation 4 really has gone region free.
Considering Neoseeker has a broad community of gamers and that many of us love an assortment of Japanese games that either never make it overseas, take forever to be localized, or have very poor localizations compared to the original's quality, this is huge. Add in various niche communities like the speed-run folk who love this stuff and yeah, it should have been done long ago.
Brad Douglas, or @Kazamatsuri, says he got the word from Sony PR about the PS4 being region free:
Whether this rumor proves to be true or not will end up being solved within the next day or so, most likely. That is, unless Sony PR is all at E3 having parties and stuff. That would be the opposite of helpful! Just joking, no one parties at E3. We're all workaholics. Go PlayStation 4, go!
