Ubisoft showed off a nice variety of games at its E3 conference today, and one of the more interesting titles is The Crew. Developed by Ivory Tower, The Crew is an online racing game in a persistent open world, with gamers racing across most of the United States. Cars and trucks can be modified and upgraded, and even completely changed around so a muscle car can now compete off-road through muddy hills and steep valleys.
The Crew allows gamers to team up with their friends to form racing crews to accomplish missions. Those can be composed of a variety of tasks, including knocking off money trucks. You can even go head-to-head against rival crews to see who is the better racing team. Ubisoft didn't show or discuss a ton, but we do know that the single player and multiplayer components blend together to make one seamless experience. How exactly that'll play out remains to be seen, but the gameplay demo shown did a good job giving us an idea.
Ivory Tower is composed of veterns from the Test Drive Unlimited games, so the racing chops in The Crew should be grand. Combine that with the insane amount of customization and moddability of the cars and trucks, and it looks like The Crew could be an awesome racing experience. So far it's confirmed for thePC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but more information should be coming out during E3.
