I'm waiting for the day that somebody with some mother frakking genius decides to go back and make one of these old fashioned side scrolling brawlers but with every ounce of modern technology and a truck ton of more gameplay features (to fit the times) than what was around yesterday. Nobody has done it or even came close. Hell, you can even adapt MMO staple classes to such things now, like healers, tanks, pure dps' and other support classes. None have even come close.

Still, nice to play a game like this (playing it now) and look back at these advanced features and imagine what would have been if the jump to 3d polygon gaming had permitted the evolution of the brawler in this regard. Fighting Force back on the PS1 came close, but not close enough, and Sega couldn't figure out the formula with it's attempts at a 4th Bare Knuckle (Streets of Rage) game on the Saturn using full 3D movement.

Ubisoft Shanghai's Turtles revamp was probably the closest we're going to get for quite a while.

I'm without an uberleet PC, and almost forgot that one was getting ported over in a few months. It's back on the radar now, thanks for the heads up.

Sure thing. Your little rant reminded me of Guantlet Dark Legacy oddly enough and how they don't make games like those anymore.

Of course this is the one of several hundred PSN release titles that falls into the 'no online population' category after its initial release week. Go figure. Sony needs to reconfigure how their network works in order to keep these games topical and expand on the player search options. -,-
